Matchweek 3 : Preview

matchweek 3.jpg

Bournemouth vs Manchester City

Venue : Dean Court

Saturday’s early kickoff features a Bournemouth side that hasn’t really made its mark yet, having lost both their games this season.

Having drawn to Everton, Manchester City will be looking to catch up to their local rivals. It is in such games when City go rampant in attack and show their ability to carve open any defence in the Premier League.

Prediction : 0-4

Manchester United vs Leicester City

Venue : Old Trafford

United lead the race for the title having scored 8 goals and conceded none, in their first two games. New signing Romelu Lukaku leads the scoring charts with 3 goals to his name, while creative midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has grabbed 4 assists.

Leicester City won their first game of the season last weekend, 2-0 against Brighton and Hove Albion. Shinji Okazaki and new signing Harry Maguire scored the goals in a convincing win for Craig Shakespeare’s side.

In the form that they are in, Manchester United would be expected to brush their opponents aside, but Leicester City have always proved to be troublesome opponents.

Prediction : 3-1

Chelsea vs Everton

Venue : Stamford Bridge

Chelsea recovered from their first matchweek blip as they overcame a strong Spurs side to win 2-1, both goals coming from standout wing-back Marcos Alonso.

Everton held on for a draw against Manchester City, with Wayne Rooney grabbing his second goal in as many games for the club. Gylfi Sigurdsson will be expected to start his first Premier League game for his new club.

Everton will put up a fight, but the reigning champions may prove too strong for them.

Prediction : 2-1

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Venue : Anfield

17 goals have been scored in the last 3 fixtures between these two sides, since Jurgen Klopp took over at Liverpool.

Liverpool just managed to scrape through against Crystal Palace, Senegalese winger Sadio Mane popping up with the solitary goal.

Arsenal succumbed to another loss at Stoke last weekend, despite having over 70% of possession. The only positive is that Alexis Sanchez will be returning to the starting lineup.

With both teams having leaky defences, it will be a battle of which attack is more potent in an entertaining encounter.

Prediction : 3-2

Tottenham Hotspurs vs Burnley

Venue : Wembley Stadium

Spurs might feel they were hard done last weekend, in their 1-2 loss to Chelsea, and will look to improve their Wembley form against relegation battlers Burnley. August may be Harry Kane’s bogey month, but Spurs have more than enough firepower to break through what will be a resolute Burnley defence.

After defeating Chelsea in the first week, Burnley lost to West Bromwich Albion by one goal. They will be looking to escape this fixture with atleast a point.

Prediction : 3-1
